Volunteer Requirements

YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 12 YEARS OLD TO BECOME A VOLUNTEER

To volunteer at the shelter you must complete 2 steps:

1.  Complete and pass a criminal background check and fill fill out a  Volunteer Application
2.  Attend one volunteer orientation and cat & dog handling class

You must complete a Background History Check prior to volunteering at the shelter.  Please download the Background Check and  Volunteer Application from the homepage and fill them out and turn them in to the shelter (You can also fill out the application online from the homepage of this website).  This background check is performed at our expense.  Unfortunately, you cannot fill out the background check online because we need a signature on the paper copy.  To access printable pdf version of background check click here.

Next you must complete one volunteer orientation meeting and Dog & Cat Handling class.  For the dates of upcoming meetings check our calendar of upcoming events under the Events menu at the top of this screen.  It is a good idea to turn in your Volunteer Application when you submit your Background Check form.  You can mail them in, turn them in to the front desk or bring them to the orientation meeting with you.

You may attend the meeting prior to receiving results on the background check

Dog Walking

 DOG WALKING

It's fun !  It's free !  It's good exercise !

Best of all, it brightens the life of a homeless dog !

Dogs in shelters are confined to their kennels 24/7 unless someone takes them out.
Just a little of your time will make a big difference to the dogs.

Please sign up to be a Volunteer!  Bring a friend!
If you are already a Volunteer, can you spare a couple hours a week to help the dogs?
It's good for your heart - In more ways than one!
