Dwight is Adopted!

Breed:  Catahoula mix
Age:  5-6 months
Gender:  Neutered Male
Weight:  33 lbs.
Heartworm Status:  Negative
ID #:  15940293

Dwight is a super cute little guy who seems to really like people, other dogs, and treats!  He was kind of distracted when we started the course and had a few different people working with him, but he seems to have settled in very nicely and is now one of the fastest in the class to pick up new tricks.  He has learned sit, lay down, come, play dead, hand touch, walk in a crate, and more!  He doesn't bark in class even when he is by himself and he has been very friendly to everyone.  He would probably be great with gentle kids.

Dwight is very, very calm when we are doing training but he definitely has a puppy playful side when he is walking or gets a chance to run around and play.  He loves playing chase with the other puppy in class and likes to play with toys, too.  He would probably be happiest in a home with a fenced yard.  He is very confident with other dogs, though he is very gentle with people.  Everyone who comes to watch class says how much they like Dwight!

Dwight is on the small side and a really nice boy.  He needs to be an inside dog and would be great as an only dog or with a doggy companion.

starAdoption Information

Kids-N-K9s dogs may be adopted at any time during the program on a first come, first serve basis but may not go home permanently until graduation night.  We do not have class on the weekends and encourage adopters to take their dogs home during that time, though they must be returned before 3:00pm Monday afternoon for class.

Potential adopters must come to the shelter during regular business hours to complete an adoption application.  Phone adoptions are also available with special approval for long-distance adoptions.

Adoption fees range from $25-$75 and includes spaying/neutering, shots, a microchip, and a heartworm test.  All we ask is that you send your success stories to us to share with your dog's handler!
