Cody is Adopted!

Cody was adopted from the shelter as an adorable little puppy (check out his picture below) and was probably dumped in the new owner's back yard for several months until he was picked up as a stray as he didn't even know his name.  The owners said they didn't want Cody anymore so he is looking for the perfect forever home this time.  Cody has learned a lot of manners in the program already, and although he is still a big, goofy puppy who gets excited for some attention sometimes, he is doing really well learning to sit politely for attention.  He likes to play outside but is pretty calm inside and does really well with training.  He loves treats and he likes toys, too.  He loves attention and likes to put his big paws out to shake and lean against you to be rubbed and cuddled.  He also loves to snuggle and give you some kisses on the neck if you let him!

Great Danes tend to be more mellow dogs so he will probably be a fairly laid back guy when he is all grown up.  Cody has learned how to sit, lay down, stay, shake, spin, come, and more!  Cody is a big boy and is probably still going to grow a little bit more.  Cody is very tolerant of handling and would probably be a great dog for older kids who wouldn't be put off by his puppy clumsiness.  He is a loveable sweetheart who will make you laugh and he has been great with other dogs, too.  Cody wants to be an inside dog and would do well in a house or an apartment as long as he got chances to exercise.

FROM HIS HANDLER:  Hi!  My name is Cody.  I am active because of my age and I can get excited at times.  I am a very good learner and can pick up new tricks and commands fast.  I like to take long walks if you like a morning jog or anytime.  I also like to be played with.

Age:  9 months
Gender:  Neutered Male

starAdoption Information

Kids-N-K9s dogs may be adopted at any time during the program on a first come, first serve basis but may not go home permanently until graduation night.  We do not have class on the weekends and encourage adopters to take their dogs home during that time, though they must be returned before 3:00pm Monday afternoon for class.
Potential adopters must come to the shelter during regular business hours to complete an adoption application.  Phone adoptions are also available with special approval for long-distance adoptions.
Adoption fees range from $25-$75 and includes spaying/neutering, shots, a microchip, and a heartworm test.  All we ask is that you send your success stories to us to share with your dog's handler!
