***The shelter may have Boomer listed by his old name, Sledge. Ask for him by both names!*** Boomer came in with a group of 5 dogs that were all identical twins...right down to the fact that it seemed nobody had ever spent much time with them. They were very scared and undersocialized but Boomer has come SO far. He is a very sweet, loving, loyal dog who wants to be someone's best friend. On the second day his handler spent time with him, he was already rolling over on his back next to her and crawling in her lap for tummy rubs! He is a happy dog and very, very sweet. His roommate even let him out of his kennel yesterday and he came right back up to us when we called him! He does great with women but seems a bit afraid of men. He isn't aggressive towards them, he just acts scared of them.
Boomer is doing well with his training and has already learned sit, lay down, and is learning stay, spin, go in a crate, shake, and more. He likes treats quite a bit and is a sucker for petting and praise, too. He walks very nicely on leash, too.
Boomer is a super cute, very gentle dog. He would be best in a home with adults right now until he builds up his confidence more. He is a total lovebug, though, and will make a great best friend for a loving family. I think he's going to have a very cute, playful personality when he gets into his own home and gets used to his family. Some new things and people can still scare him a bit so he needs patient owners that will continue to gradually introduce him to new people and new things.
From his handler: "Mr. Boomer is very adorable, bright, gentle as can be. My dog is obedient. I trained him very fast. He's a good listener, just treat my baby with respect. He is very friendly.
Boomer is very mellow, he would prefer to be around adults more than around kids. He's a mellow dog always laid back, as long as he doesn't get picked on.
He's good to go on walks with very active dogs. Boomer learns very fast. He waits until he's out of the kennel to use the potty. You would love Boomer. He's awsome and cute. Please come check him out. He deserves to be in a better place where he feels loved and safe."
