New Animal Shelter Rendering

On January 24, 2018, Williamson County and the cities of Cedar Park, Hutto, Leander, and Round Rock broke ground on the new 16,970 square-foot, two-story addition and renovations to the current facility.

The expansion area will feature a new adoption center, a public lobby, administration offices, new canine and feline adoption kennels, a new entrance off Wilco Way and parking area for the adoption center, and an exercise yard for dogs. Renovations to the existing facility include a new surgery area and surgical prep rooms, repairs to the A/C and plumbing in 35 existing canine kennels, a feline isolation area, and a laundry area with cleanup station. The expansion project will double the current capacity for cats and add 65 dog kennels.

starSave Rate

No Kill Graphic, We are a no-kill facility because we believe it is the right thing to do. Our shelter is not funded to act as a no-kill shelter. We have reached this milestone because of our community. We can only continue to be a no-kill because of our caring adopters, committed volunteers, loving fosters and generous donors. Cheryl Schneider WCRAS Animal Service Directore Since December 2010

Our Save Rate is determined by "noses in noses out." We account for every animal that comes into our care. We do not adjust our numbers based on an animal's "adoptability." Each animal we receive is named, cared for, and given the best outcome we can give.

Our high Save Rate is completely based on Community Support. Together, with the community taking an active role in the shelter, we can save more lives.
